# Start from a tool someone already needed

Five real starting points for the tools teams keep asking for. Each one already uses the login and database that come with every TeamOnly app. Change it by asking your AI, in plain English.

**Coming with launch:** templates ship when TeamOnly opens. The tools and prompts below are what they will do.

## Expense approval

For finance, managers, and anyone who buys things for work.

What it does:
- People submit an amount, a reason and a photo of the receipt
- Their manager approves or rejects it, with a note
- Finance sees everything approved this month and exports it

Ask your AI to change it: "Add a monthly limit per person and flag anything over it in red for finance."

Start with one command: `npx teamonly init --template expense-approval`

## Inventory tracker

For the warehouse, stockroom, kitchen, front office.

What it does:
- Items by location or bin, with a count and a reorder level
- Anyone can log a count from a phone on the floor
- A list of what is running low, sorted by urgency

Ask your AI to change it: "Let people scan a barcode with their phone camera to find the item instead of searching."

## Request form

For office managers, IT helpers, facilities, HR.

What it does:
- A simple form for whatever people ask you for
- You mark each request as new, in progress or done
- People can see the status of their own requests

Ask your AI to change it: "Add a dropdown for request type, and send laptop requests to a separate list for IT."

## Customer lookup

For support, sales, account managers.

What it does:
- Search customers by name, email or account number
- Notes on each customer that the whole team can see and add to
- Upload a spreadsheet to update the list

Ask your AI to change it: "Show the last five notes on the search results so I don't have to open each customer."

## Ask the docs

For anyone who keeps answering the same questions.

What it does:
- Upload your handbook, policies or how-to documents
- Coworkers search them in plain words
- Results link straight to the right page

## Questions people ask

### Can I change a template?

That is the idea. Each template is ordinary code in your project. Ask Claude Code or Cursor for changes in plain English, then deploy again.

### Can I start from scratch instead?

Yes. Run `npx teamonly init` in an empty folder and describe the tool you want. The templates are a head start, not a requirement.
